Duke Of Spin turned in a smart performance when shedding his maiden at Scottsville on Sunday. As Duncan mentioned in his post-race interview, the son of Duke Of Marmalade is talented but expectations are that he will eventually stay a trip. He raced green and never really got into the race on debut and Duncans instruction for Muzi to take the colt to the front proved an inspired move. A fluent big-striding colt, Duke Of Spin did it easily in front and when asked to skip at the top of the straight he quickened away nicely. In spite of racing green, there was plenty of daylight between him and hot favourite White Lightning at the line. Good luck to Dave Maclean. He looks to have another nice horse in the making.
