It was a good day for the yard at Scottsville yesterday with a brace of winners and others running into the money.
La Vallette made nearly all the running in the second to win rather comfortably but Edge Of The Sun was pushed all the way to the line by Captain Von Trapp. Captain Von Trapp shifted in badly inside the last 50m, hampering Edge Of The Sun, but Muzi Kept his mount hard at it in spite of being knocked off a straight line and prevailed by a short head. Had the decision gone the other way, it would no doubt have been reversed in the boardroom.
Brighteyebushytail and Crime Victim had to be content with runner-up and third place behind Cats Legacy while Jet Stream is showing promise and is one to follow when he tries further than a mile.
Lyle Hewitson, at only his second meeting back from injury, took a heavy fall as his mount Gratuity came down in the fourth with Pathway To Glory, who was hot on her tail, also falling. Both riders escaped serious injury. Hewitson with a sore knee and Stuart Randolph a concussion.
They both left on their own steam. They were not ambulanced out of here, said Chief Stipendiary Steward, Shaun Parker.
