It all came together in the last at Greyville on Saturday with Muzi Yeni riding a cracker for Duncan on Sitia. It had until then been a frustrating afternoon with Fiorella and Procal Harem finishing-runners up.
Fiorella gave hot favourite Oh Susanna a run for her money in the Gr1 Woolavington 2000 and only went down half-a-length at the death, the favourite expected to win by a street. It was another clever ride from Muzi who played the field on the brake and it was only Oh Susannas undoubted class that prevailed in the end. Fiorella has been supplemented for the Vodacom Durban July and with many of the so-called big guns pulling out today, she will certainly get a run.
Sitia was having her final run before heading to stud at Klawervlei. As Duncan said post-race, she was a filly that tended to run around in her races so the decision to race in blinkers was a good one and Muzi timed his run to perfection. Good luck to John Koster and team Klawervlei.
