Mike de Kock-trained four-year-old Elevated has opened 7-1 favourite for the R750,000 WSB Grand Heritage over 1450m at the Vaal on Saturday next week.

The Elusive Fort gelding, to be ridden by Callan Murray, won well in his preparatory outing for this Non-Black Type race, running on well to beat Top Shot by 0.80 lengths. He will carry 55.5kg and is drawn at No 20.

Second favouritism in early betting is shared by KwaZulu-Natal raider Secret Captain, from the Duncan Howells stable, and Geoff Woodruffs lightly raced charge Zouaves.

Eight horses are on offer at 14-1 Alec Laird-trained top weight Amazing Strike, second top weight Arctica and in-form Trading Profit, who hail from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable, Port Elizabeth-based Classify, Count Tassilo, who represents the strong jockey-trainer partnership of Sean Tarry and Smanga Khumalo, other Tarry-trained runners, Social Order and Yankee Captain and Paul Peter-rained Forest Fox, to be ridden by last years Grand Heritage-winning jockey Gavin Lerena.
