Champion jockey Anthony Delpech has an excellent strike rate when riding for Duncan and for anyone else it must be said and he took advantage of a pedestrian early pace on Roys Vogue to out-gun stable companion Green Fairy.
With Green Fairy keen in the early stages and the pace indifferent, Keagan de Melo took a calculated decision to go forward.
The move looked to have paid dividends as Green Fairy led into the straight but she came up empty over the last furlong as Roys Vogue finished with a wet sail.
I was three wide but they went very slow, said Delpech. I dont mind going three wide when the pace is slow and I think this filly was a bit better than the others in the race, he said. I think she will win a few more, he added.
Good luck to owner Roy Moodley.
