Blinkers were the ace in the pack according to Duncan as Pickawinner lived up to his name with a comfortable victory in the last race at Greyville on Friday night. The gelding has had his fair share of problems but the key in many instances when a horse does have problems is patience. Push them too soon and they often never reach their true potential.
Pickawinner has always shown ability, winning two barrier trials with ease but had been disappointing on the track. With blinkers on he showed what he is capable off. Anton Marcus had no hesitation in taking him to the front and he was never challenged. Anton was of the opinion that he was still immature and owners John and Craig Mitchell can look forward with a bit of optimism.
