Duncan edged four clear of perennial rival and defending champion Dennis Drier in the race for the KZN Trainers Championship with a well deserved double at Scottsville yesterday. The championship runs to the end of the current season on July 31 and is based on the number of winners saddled in KZN. Duncan is currently on 65 winners for the season opposed to Denniss 61.
There are still six meetings to go before the end of the season so it will be a close-run race for two seriously competitive trainers.
Mind Your Business did the business in the first race yesterday for Alesh Naidooo. Duncan was confident that the daughter of Querari had made good improvement on her first outing and so it proved as she ran on nicely to win well with the Drier-trained favourite in second.
Duncan rounded off the meeting with Sorceress. Stretched to 1400m from her 1000m debut the daughter of Antonius Pius ran them ragged and drew off to win comfortably. Good luck to Manny Pillay and his daughter Trinisha, Greg Blank, Phillip Kahan and Jimmy Sarkis.
