If this filly had legs she would be a champion, was Duncans assessment after Marsanne, cleverly named after a white grape variety, did her final piece of work in preparation for Sundays race on the Greyville poly and the daughter of Mogok showed just why she has impressed.
One can plan all you like for a race, putting it into action can be another story. Instructions to Craig Zackey was to jump and sit handy. Marsanne walked out of the gate and turned for home last. But she showed a superb turn of foot as Craig picked his way through the traffic and although it was a close-run thing at the line with the apprentice-ridden Cantata also finishing well, it was a deserved win.
It is now two-from-two for Marsanne and hopefully she comes out of the race in good order.
Marsanne was an impulse buy by Dave MacLean. Patting the filly in her box at the sales, she took a bite out of Warren Lenferna but gave Dave a lick which prompted Dave to buy her. She has already paid her way and if she stays sound Duncan feels that she still has plenty to offer.
Good luck to Dave MacLean, Frank da Ascencao, Warren Lenferna and Duncan.
