Hey Boy, brother to brilliant sprinter Via Africa, has taken time to get off the mark but a change of environment and gelding appears to have done the trick as he made all the running to win the first at Greyville on Friday. Craig Zackey had no hesitation in taking him to the front from his inside draw and the pair were never headed. Two furlongs out he looked to be under pressure as Dallas loomed dangerous, but Hey Boy found another gear and was pulling away at the finish. He had good form in Cape Town but was gelded before being send to Ashburton. He arrived in good nick, said Duncan, but has a bit of a mind of his own.
Zackey confirmed. Hes starting to settle and should go on from here.
It was a smart win and owner/breeder Andre Hauptfleisch and partner Prof Revaprasadu will should have much to look forward to.
