A double on the day and some pleasing barrier trials made for a satisfying afternoon for the stable. The smartly bred filly Mela Stregata caught the eye in her barrier trial and Thanksgiving is a big scopey colt who impressed so much in his trial that one trainer was overheard saying, well have to give that one a miss.
To the racing proper, it is always good to repay a sponsor and Mocha Rose racing in the colours of the Hollywood Syndicate won well under a smart ride from Donovan Dillon who got the filly home mustly under hands and heels. Frosty Princess got done out of the gate but will have her day sooner rather than later.
If there is a better looking specimen of a thoroughbred then they dont come much better looking than Who Says who finally got his act together in the third in spite of drifting across the course under replacement rider Sherman Brown.
As Duncan mentioned in his post-race interview, Who Says has not been an easy horse to train as he has had a myriad of problems. But good luck to Dave MacLean and now that Who Says has got off the mark he might settle down to win a few more.
